Climate Risk and Adaptation Country Profile: Lesotho (World Bank)

Abstract: Because of Lesotho’s dependence on rainfed agriculture, susceptibility to extreme weather events, and fragile ecosystems, the country is highly vulnerable to climate change. Priority adaptation strategies for the country include adjustments to tillage practices; adjustments of livestock breeds, improving water management and development of irrigation systems; policies supporting growth and diversification of the economy; strengthening institutions; protection of natural resources; investing in research and development; improving disaster management; and weather insurance.
